In today’s post, we’ll look into how to sign up for Gate.io Exchange and then share a code that gives up to 80% maximum fee discount.
We’ll proceed in the following order:
- Account creation
- KYC identity verification
Gate.io is an exchange often known for listing new coins before they appear on Binance or Upbit.
Because of that, it’s widely used by traders who want to catch new projects early at lower entry prices before they gain attention in the broader market.
How to Sign Up for Gate.io
1. Access the Discount Link
Access the Discount Link
First, go to the discount link below. This link offers an 80% payback fee discount — one of the highest discount rates available among all referral codes.
For those signing up through the mobile app, please enter the following referral code manually.
Gate.io 80% Fee Payback Code: VGIQUFXXVA
Enter your email (or phone number) and password, then check that the code (VGIQUFXXVA) is correctly displayed.
After that, tick the terms and conditions box and click “Sign Up.”
Password requirements:
- Must include both letters and numbers
- Must be at least 8 characters long
- Must not contain any part of your email address
At this stage, do not use third-party sign-in options such as Google, MetaMask, Apple, or Telegram, as the discount code may not be applied if you register using those methods.
Next, enter the 6-digit verification code that was sent to your registered email (or phone number).
Once that’s done, your account creation is complete.
You can either click “Verify Now” to proceed immediately, or simply exit the page and continue later.
2. KYC Identity Verification
Now, let’s proceed with the KYC identity verification.
You must complete the KYC process to enable essential features on Gate.io such as deposits, withdrawals, and trading.
Click the “Individual/Entity Verification” button located at the top right corner of the website.
Next, click the “Verify Now” button.
Be careful not to select “Entity Verification (Institution Verification)”, as that option is for organizations, not individual users.
Select Nationality and Residence as “Korea”, then enter your name, choose the Certificate Type (the ID you’ll use for verification), and click “Next.”
In this example, I’ll proceed using the Resident Registration Card.
| Certificate Type | ID Number |
|---|---|
| National ID (Resident Registration Card) | Resident Registration Number |
| Passport | Passport Number |
| Driver’s License | Resident Registration Number |
No matter which of the three IDs you choose, the verification will be processed within 2 minutes, so feel free to use whichever one is most convenient for you.
Next, choose one of the two available options for facial verification.
In this case, we’ll proceed by clicking “Facial recognition with mobile phone” at the top.
A window will appear asking whether you are a U.S. citizen.
Select “Other” for nationality, then click “AGREE AND CONTINUE.”
Take photos of both the front and back sides of your ID, then click the “ACCEPT” button.
After submitting, wait a moment for the facial recognition process to begin.
When you’re ready, click “I’M READY.”
When you place your face inside the square frame and wait, the system will give you a simple instruction — for example, in my case, it asked me to slowly rotate my head in a circular motion.
Follow the on-screen prompt, and once you complete it, the facial capture process will be finished.
3. Check KYC Verification
After waiting for about 2–5 minutes, return to the main screen, click the person-shaped icon (profile photo), and then select “Individual/Entity Verification.”
If you see the message “Verified”, it means your identity verification is complete.
Your Gate.io account is now fully set up, and you can use all features of the exchange.
Enjoy trading safely!
